IT COMES BUT ONLY ONCE A YEAR, ENJOY THE SAVINGS WHILE THEY'RE HERE!

Happy Holidays Readers! I apologize for being very spastic in my blog postings, but there is no better way to start up again than to do a holiday special! The following is a list of some of my favorite places online to search for deals during the holiday season. These sites are sure to provide a variety of gift options for everyone on your shopping list!

1. Amazon.com: I'm telling you, Amazon has EVERYTHING from something for your grandmother to the perfect item for your best friend. And now you can save on shipping on every purchase of $25 or more! PS. check out Gift.com to find the gift you are looking for. This website is a gift finder, based on a range of questions about any one on your list, they select a variety of gifts and you can buy them all on Amazon!

2. Groupon.com: Keep an eye on Groupon during the holiday season. If you aren't member yet, GET ON IT. Sigining up for Groupon is free but the savings are endless. Groupon sends you daily emails of savings on items for crazy discounts from $30 for a massage (Regularly $100) to $20 for wine and cheese baskets (regularly $50). The only thing about Groupon is the sales only last up to 3 days so you have to act quickly.

3. MyShape.com: To all the ladies out there, if you haven't heard of this site yet check it out. This site is a special kind of shopping site. As you sign up, it asks you to take your measurements (this takes a little time but is certainly worth while!) From your measurements, they use their "My Shape" finder to select items suited to your body shape from labels such as; Michael Kors, Karen Kane and Newport News. As an incentive, they always have some sort of promotion going on such as 40% off coats and jackets . I tried it and all of the items they picked not only suited my body type, they were items that I liked.

That's all for today, take some time to surf these sites and you might find something that you or that person on your list might like!

Writing with myself...

So I am pretty sure no one reads this but I thought i'd give it a go.

I wanted to add a little saving tid bit I learned while currently living in the boonies. Avoid ATM's! If you go to a store and get cash back you save like 2 bucks! Righteous.

And that is all.
Happy saving.

Budgeting -_-

My mom taught me that budgeting is for sure the way to go. Don't go to the complete other spectrum and become cheap by only buying cheap items. Just make sure you have enough money to pay the bills and maybe even put some money away? If you want to plan to save open up a high interest savings account and put even $20 a month in it. Eventually you cold pay for a holiday!!

iPhone has a great app called "pocket money lite" that helps you set budgets and incomes. Excel if you know how to use it is another good way too. Also if you want to try it old school then write it out on a peice of paper or a notebook!

Just calculate how much you will make that month and what your fixed expenses are. From there budget how much you can spend in different categories such as (food, clothes, toiletries, socializing etc.)

Happy budgeting!!

Online Shopping/ Craigslist

We all know what happens when we are alone with our credit cards and the Internet. The spending of the money. Online Shopping can be a great way to buy things but also a great way to get scammed by assholes. So be careful. Personally I only like to buy from official sites but occasionally a deal will come up from random sites that proves to be better. I usually google the site to see if there are any reviews by consumers. I also check to see that they have a security protection program (Comodo, BBB Accredited business, McAfee Secure, TRUSTe, VeriSign Secured) and read their Terms and Conditions. Be safe with your credit card Info!

Some good online sites are:

Amazon.com
Ebay.ca
Zappos.com
planetonline.com

Before you buy clothing or shoes, be sure to go to a local store if you can to try them on first because return policies aren't so reliable online!

Craigslist and Kijiji are also other sites that can be very good. People will SELL anything on that site for alot cheaper than retail. Just beware of people that ask for your credit card information. Tell them youll meet up and pay CASH. Drug Dealer Style..

Students -- We are ALL broke.. you are not alone.

Myself, being a full time student have truly embraced the word "cuttting back".

Allthough because of my advid Bargain skills I am still able to occasionally treat myself. Here are some suggestions for my fellow students!

1. SPC Card. it's $8 and you can get discounts at over 100 stores (food, clothing, activities etc.)! Within the past few monts I have saved over 150 dollars thanks to my SPC Card (purchase at Athletes World or your local university)www.spccard.ca

2. Air Miles, Rewards Cards (Save On Foods, Petro Points)
All of these add up. Over 90% of the stores you shop at I can guarantee that you can use these.
Petro Canada has this deal for savings cards on right now. You can save 5cents for every litre of gas. So far I have saved 10 dollars. 10 dollars is 3 lattes!

3. Entertainment Books: if you can spare the extra cash to buy them ($40) I can guarantee these will be worth your while. If you like to dine out, got swimming, snowboarding, shopping, take care of your car, go carting minigolfing and many more than you will save. My boyfriends looooves Las Margaritas. For us to go normally it would have been over 40 dollars. But in the coiupon book, alot of the coupons are for Buy one entree get one free. So in total we spent only 25 dollars! Also you can save on booking with hotels. www.entertainment.com

4.Selling your books on Amazon.ca and School Buy Backs.
Amazon.ca has a great forum for selling your used textbooks. I have made over 70 dollars off of two books that the school would not buy back! Make sure that if you dont think you will use your textbook again that you take advantage of buybacks! I received over 40% of what I spent on books back in CA$H!

More to Come!

Yeaaaaaaa.. Shopping in the USA!

So...

I do not like to "encourage" us Canadians to necessarily not support our economy. But let's face it, shopping in the states is soooooo much cheaper. If one chooses to spend most/all of their discretionary income to boost the american economy... Here are the stores I suggest:

Ross
TJ Maxx
Fred Meyer
Macy's-- Enroll with Macy's for their savings program and receive 10% off...
Amazon.com! (Recently I cought a pair of uggs for 179.99 CAD that were reg. 235.00 plus tax CAD)
